Model 777 - Paint Job

MODEL 777

PAINT JOB

I wanted to find a way to pay tribute to Air India’s elegant livery while also honoring the subtleties of the manila folder. While I could have painted the exterior in full color, this would have detracted from the beautifully monochromatic palette of the model. Instead, I applied the details of the livery in clear gloss, creating an understated effect that can only be seen at certain angles—it was the perfect compromise.

The paint job itself involved the creation of a spray tent, a huge amount of precise masking, a spray coat of protective matte sealant, and the careful application of gloss to the stenciled areas of the fuselage and tail. The entire process was documented in a video (below) on my YouTube channel.
