PROJECT COLOR CORPS
The charity Project Color Corps held a silent auction fundraiser featuring 10x10” art pieces, each inspired by a particular hue. I chose to work with the color white, and relied on texture to bring the piece to life. The result drew on familiar materials and tools: cardstock and an Xacto knife slicing horizontally across the canvas. But, where my model-making work is precise and calculated, this piece allowed me to explore a more fluid, organic form of expression, with shadow and texture adding depth and detail to the otherwise plain surface. I included the Xacto knife as part of the final piece.
