STUDENT RESIDENCE
AT TALIESIN WEST
One of the first projects with which we were tasked was to design a student residence at Taliesin West. The project had to meet strict budget requirements and provide adequate shelter from the oppressive heat of the Arizona desert. My design used adobe and wood as primary materials to honor the local landscape, and was designed to meet a budget of $500.
This project also introduced me to massing models, the manila folder mockups that paved the way for my model airplane project the following year.
